This was where we wrapped everything up before crossing into Oman.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">This time things were a bit easier \u2013 most of the paperwork was already prepared, but it still needed some extra legalization. In this post, we\u2019ll walk you through how we handled the process for the UAE and what\u2019s worth paying special attention to if you\u2019re heading there with a leased vehicle. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0dee2ec elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0dee2ec\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><b>Are leasing documents checked in the Emirates?<\/b><\/h2><p class=\"p1\">Crossing into the <a href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zjednoczone_Emiraty_Arabskie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UAE<\/a> with a leased vehicle isn\u2019t based on assumptions \u2014 <span class=\"s1\"><b>border officials really do check the paperwork<\/b><\/span>, especially if the vehicle is still owned by a leasing company. Since leasing means you\u2019re only the user, not the owner, they require a clearly documented owner\u2019s consent (from the leasing company), <span class=\"s1\"><b>backed by a notarized authorization and a full legalization process<\/b><\/span> through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE Embassy. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fd6ebca elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fd6ebca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"p1\"><b>Documents worth having at the border<\/b><\/h2><p class=\"p1\">Here\u2019s a list of the essential documents you\u2019ll definitely want to have when entering the UAE with a leased vehicle (plus a few of our own tips):<\/p><ul><li><strong>vehicle registration certificate,<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>passport + tourist visa for the United Arab Emirates<\/strong> \u2013 Polish citizens receive it free of charge at the border in the form of a stamp (valid for 90 days),<\/li><li><strong>a notarised authorisation from the leasing company<\/strong>, translated into Arabic by a sworn translator and legalised by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE Embassy in Warsaw,<\/li><li><strong>Carnet de Passages<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/warsawtravelers.pl\/en\/guides\/carnet-de-passages-and-leasing\/\">for land entry into the UAE<\/a>, this document is formally required, as the UAE is part of the CPD system,<\/li><li><strong>a copy of the leasing agreement<\/strong> \u2013 just in case; if needed, it can be quickly translated using DeepL or ChatGPT,<\/li><li><strong>photocopies of all documents <\/strong>\u2013 keep them separate from the originals; in case of theft, they will speed up the formalities.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Regarding vehicle insurance<\/b><\/span> \u2013 entering the UAE with your own vehicle requires valid third-party liability coverage recognized in the Emirates. If your contract contains no clauses restricting travel outside the EU, that\u2019s a good sign \u2014 but in practice, much depends on the company\u2019s policy. Some will issue the document within a few days, while others are more cautious, especially since entering the UAE often involves transiting through Iraq, which the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs classifies as a high-risk destination.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">The key is to have a clear statement in the authorization confirming that you\u2019re allowed to drive the vehicle outside Poland \u2014 ideally without territorial limits, or with an explicit list of the countries in the region.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">The document should be signed by a person authorized to represent the company (a board member or proxy) in the presence of a notary. The notarial fee is PLN 24.60 gross per signature. It\u2019s worth requesting several copies right away \u2014 keep the original in a safe place and use the others for the next stages of legalization.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b294e29 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b294e29\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"p1\"><b>Court and Ministry of Foreign Affairs \u2013 completing Polish seals<\/b><\/h3><p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bip.warszawa.so.gov.pl\/artykul\/222\/69\/uwierzytelnienie-dokumentow-przeznaczonych-do-uzytku-za-granica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">After leaving the notary, head to the competent District Court to certify the notary\u2019s signature<\/a>. This step is mandatory \u2014 without this stamp, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not accept the document for further processing. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">The next stop is <a href=\"https:\/\/legalizacja.msz.gov.pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) <\/a> at 38\/42 Krucza Street in Warsaw. Here you\u2019ll get the \u201cPolish\u201d authentication: legalisation (26 PLN per document) and\u2014if you also want to use the same copy in Hague Convention countries such as Oman or Saudi Arabia\u2014you can add an apostille on the same copy (60 PLN). Payments are made in advance, and you book the appointment online; in person, the document is usually issued on the spot, while postal submissions require a few extra days.    <\/p><p class=\"p1\">It is worth knowing that there are two types of document authentication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:<\/p><ul><li class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.pl\/web\/dyplomacja\/legalizacja\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>legalization<\/b><\/span><\/a> \u2013 for countries outside the apostille system (e.g. Kuwait, UAE, Iraq),<\/li><li class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.pl\/web\/dyplomacja\/apostille\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>apostille <\/b><\/span><\/a>\u2013 for countries that have signed the Hague Convention (e.g. Oman, Saudi Arabia).<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\">Important for the UAE: The Emirates are not a party to the Hague Convention, so an apostille alone won\u2019t work there\u2014the key step is consular legalisation, as described above. You might only add an apostille \u201con the side\u201d if you plan to use the same copy in other countries in the region that accept it (e.g., Saudi Arabia or Oman). At this stage, you\u2019ll have all the necessary Polish seals and can take the document to a sworn translator.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9f913f5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9f913f5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Sworn translation<\/h3><p class=\"p1\">Once your document has the full set of Polish stamps from the MFA (legalisation and\u2014if you opted for it\u2014apostille), the best next step for the UAE and other countries in the region is to hand it over to a sworn Arabic translator.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">From our own experience, we can recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/arch-bip.ms.gov.pl\/pl\/rejestry-i-ewidencje\/tlumacze-przysiegli\/lista-tlumaczy-przysieglych\/translator,2758.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Dr Adam Hosin<\/span><\/a>, who has handled translations for us used in legalisations and apostilles across the Middle East. The market rate for such a translation is usually between <span class=\"s1\"><b>300 and 600 PLN net,<\/b><\/span> depending on the length of the text. Importantly, the translator immediately binds the translation together with the original (including all Polish stamps) and seals the entire set.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">This is important because the consulates of the UAE, Kuwait, and Iraq do not accept standalone translations \u2013 the document must be a single, permanently bound package.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a081c2d elementor-widget elementor-widget-qi_addons_for_elementor_image_gallery_masonry\" data-id=\"a081c2d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"qi_addons_for_elementor_image_gallery_masonry.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"qodef-shortcode qodef-m qodef-qi-image-gallery-masonry qodef-qi-fslightbox-popup qodef-popup-gallery qodef-image--hover-zoom qodef-qi-grid qodef-layout--qi-masonry qodef-items--fixed qodef-col-num--1 qodef-responsive--predefined\">\n\t<div class=\"qodef-grid-inner\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qodef-qi-grid-masonry-sizer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"qodef-e qodef-image-wrapper qodef-grid-item qodef-item--landscape\">\n\t<div class=\"qodef-e-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"qodef-popup-item\" itemprop=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/warsawtravelers.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/iraq-legalization-documents-001.jpg\" data-type=\"image\" data-fslightbox=\"gallery-7\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1300\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/warsawtravelers.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/iraq-legalization-documents-001-1300x650.jpg\" class=\"attachment-qi_addons_for_elementor_image_size_landscape size-qi_addons_for_elementor_image_size_landscape\" alt=\"Iraq vehicle legalization documents papers on a wooden table with official stamps and signatures\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fdec956 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fdec956\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Embassy of the United Arab Emirates<\/h3><p class=\"p1\">Before heading to the UAE embassy, you\u2019ll need to visit the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs again \u2013 this time to legalize the<span class=\"s1\"><b> sworn translation<\/b><\/span> (treated as a separate document). Yes, even if it\u2019s already bound together with the original. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">Keep in mind that everything is based <span class=\"s1\"><b>on the same original document<\/b><\/span>, on which you\u2019ll be collecting stamps and legalizations from each embassy. However, if you plan to cover more than three countries in the region, consider preparing an additional copy with its own legalization \u2014 you might simply run out of space for all the seals on a single version. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">We did our \u201cembassy circuit,\u201d leaving the UAE for last. Once the translation was legalized at the MFA (and apostilled as well, if Oman or Saudi Arabia were on the list), the next stop was the Consular Section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mofa.gov.ae\/en\/missions\/warsaw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>UAE Embassy in Warsaw, located at Z\u0142ota 59<\/b><\/span><\/a> (SkyLight Tower, 19th floor \u2013 right next to Z\u0142ote Tarasy shopping center). <\/p><p class=\"p1\">Here\u2019s a small surprise \u2013 the consulate doesn\u2019t legalize just the translation. If your document carries more than one Polish MFA legalization (for example, the court authentication and the translation), you\u2019ll be charged for each one separately. The fee is <span class=\"s1\"><b>150 AED per item<\/b><\/span>, payable by card on the spot.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">The processing time is usually up to <span class=\"s1\"><b>5 working days<\/b><\/span>.
