If you\u2019ve ever dreamed of <span class=\"s1\">watching planes land just overhead<\/span>, this is the place to experience that iconic moment\u2014similar to the famous Maho Beach in Sint Maarten. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">If you\u2019re heading there by <span class=\"s1\">scooter<\/span>, <span class=\"s1\">be careful with Google Maps<\/span>\u2014it might try to route you through a hotel, but there\u2019s <span class=\"s1\">no access that way<\/span>. Instead, make sure to turn onto <span class=\"s1\">Soi Mai Khao 6<\/span> first, then follow the road toward <span class=\"s1\">Mai Khao Beach<\/span>. Once you reach the beach, <span class=\"s1\">you can ride a bit further along the sidewalk<\/span> (this only works with a scooter\u2014cars won\u2019t make it through).  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">The spot itself is <span class=\"s1\">super impressive<\/span>, but right <span class=\"s1\">now it\u2019s packed with tourists<\/span>. No surprise\u2014everyone wants to snap that perfect shot with a plane flying just a few meters overhead. The moment when a jet comes in for landing, with its engines roaring above the beach, is something that truly hits different <span class=\"s1\">when you experience it in person<\/span>.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">If you want to catch <span class=\"s1\">the best view<\/span>, it\u2019s a good idea to <span class=\"s1\">check the arrival schedule for Phuket Airport (HKT)<\/span> beforehand\u2014otherwise, you might end up roasting in the sun for hours, waiting for the perfect moment. Speaking of the <span class=\"s1\">sun<\/span>\u2026 there\u2019s barely any shade on this beach, so unless you want to leave looking like a roasted lobster, <span class=\"s1\">bring a hat and plenty since the place <span class=\"s1\">is under renovation<\/span>, and it wouldn\u2019t be the same experience. <a href=\"https:\/\/warsawtravelers.pl\/en\/asia\/thailand-pandemic-asia-2021-phuket\/\">However, <span class=\"s1\">I visited during the COVID era<\/span><\/a> when tourists were practically nonexistent\u2014you could count them on one hand. And let me tell you, that was a completely different vibe.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">The Big Buddha <span class=\"s1\">is one of Phuket\u2019s most iconic landmarks<\/span>. <span class=\"s1\">This 45-meter-tall seated Buddha towers<\/span> over the island and can be seen from many spots, especially in the south. It sits atop <span class=\"s1\">Nakkerd Hill<\/span>, offering panoramic views of <span class=\"s1\">Chalong, Kata, and Karon<\/span>\u2014on a clear day, it\u2019s an incredible spot to catch the sunset. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">This is a <span class=\"s1\">sacred site<\/span>, so be mindful of the <span class=\"s1\">dress code when visiting<\/span>. <span class=\"s1\">Women should cover their shoulders and knees<\/span>, so if you arrive in shorts and a tank top, you might be asked to wear a shawl or sarong\u2014these are usually available for rent at the entrance.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">If the renovations are complete, this place is definitely worth a visit. Beyond the impressive statue itself, the views are stunning, and if you\u2019re lucky enough to catch a quieter moment, the atmosphere can be quite peaceful. During the day, Kata Beach is <span class=\"s1\">packed with tourists<\/span>, especially in high season, but as the sun sets, the <span class=\"s1\">nightlife takes over<\/span>. The area is full of restaurants, bars, and party spots that attract travelers looking for some fun. If you\u2019re after a balance of beach time and a lively evening scene, this could be a good spot. <\/p><p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The beach itself is beautiful<\/span>\u2014wide, sandy, and with crystal-clear water. But if you don&#8217;t happen to be going on a water cruise, it can also be <span class=\"s1\">quite a pleasant place to go for a walk.<\/span> <\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A long pier<\/span> that goes far out to sea, <span class=\"s1\">so the views are quite pleasant<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, especially in the morning or evening. It is not a typical tourist place, so  <\/span>there are no <span class=\"s1\">souvenir stalls<\/span> or crowds of people taking pictures at every turn-mostly you see local fishermen, port workers and tourists waiting for their boats<span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p><p>Is it worth it? If you have a boat transfer here &#8211; of course.<span class=\"s1\"> If you&#8217;re just looking for a place to take a quick walk by the water, that can be a nice option, too. The museum is housed in a <span class=\"s1\">beautiful colonial building<\/span> and showcases various aspects of the lives of the island\u2019s early residents \u2013 from working in tin mines and trade to culture and education. <\/p><p>Impressions? To be honest? <span class=\"s1\">We didn\u2019t leave particularly impressed<\/span>. The museum is fairly well-organized, <span class=\"s1\">but it lacks something truly captivating<\/span>. There are plenty of informational boards and historical photos, <span class=\"s1\">but unless you\u2019re really into Phuket\u2019s history<\/span>, you probably won\u2019t find anything too exciting here.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The ticket price is quite high for what you actually get <\/span> \u2013 there are other places on Phuket where you can see and experience more for less money.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">In summary \u2013 <span class=\"s1\">this isn\u2019t a must-visit spot on Phuket<\/span>. If you have the time and an interest in history, it\u2019s worth a quick visit. chains. <span class=\"s1\">If you want to see<\/span> elephants up close but in a way that doesn\u2019t contribute to their suffering, <span class=\"s1\">these types of sanctuaries are the only right choice.<\/span> <\/p><p class=\"p3\">During a visit to the sanctuary, <span class=\"s1\">you can feed the elephants, observe them in their natural environment<\/span>, and even help bathe them in the mud. The animals here roam freely <span class=\"s1\">and aren\u2019t forced into any \u201cperformances\u201d<\/span>\u2014you can simply enjoy their presence and see how they truly behave when they\u2019re not under human control. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">This time, we didn\u2019t find the time to visit again, but <span class=\"s1\">I had the chance to be here in 2021 during the Phuket Sandbox program<\/span>. Back then, there were very few tourists, and it was a much more peaceful experience with these incredible animals. Theoretically, it sounds great \u2013 a tropical forest, a stream of water cascading over rocks, and the chance for a nature walk\u2026 but is it really a place worth visiting? <\/p><p class=\"p1\">Honestly? <span class=\"s1\">The entrance fee is overpriced<\/span>. 400 THB for a ticket is quite a lot, especially since the <span class=\"s1\">waterfall itself isn\u2019t that spectacular<\/span>. It\u2019s more of a small stream of <span class=\"s1\">water falling from a few meters<\/span>, which doesn\u2019t leave much of an impression, especially if you\u2019ve seen other waterfalls in Thailand.  <\/p><p class=\"p1\">However, <span class=\"s1\">the surrounding area is pleasant for a walk<\/span> \u2013 the trail leading to the waterfall goes through tropical forest, which can be a nice change from the beach vibe of Phuket. <span class=\"s1\">If you\u2019re in the mood for some greenery and a jungle atmosphere<\/span>, it can be a nice break, but don\u2019t expect spectacular You can relax on the beach, swim in the turquoise water, do some shopping at the night markets, and then head out for a party in the evening. <span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s a paradise for those who love a mix of relaxation and entertainment<\/span>. If you\u2019re thinking of a quick 2-3 day getaway, it might not be enough \u2013 <span class=\"s1\">to really experience the island\u2019s vibe, you\u2019ll need more time<\/span>.   <\/p><p class=\"p1\">It\u2019s also worth <span class=\"s1\">keeping in mind that Phuket isn\u2019t just about beaches<\/span> \u2013 it\u2019s also a place where you can combine travel with remote work. If you\u2019re planning a longer stay, <span class=\"s1\">make sure to check if the place you\u2019re staying has stable internet<\/span>. It\u2019s best if they offer fiber-optic internet, because if it\u2019s based on a regular phone line, you can forget about smooth video calls or working with large files. In case of any issues, you can always rely on <span class=\"s1\">5G, which works pretty well here and doesn\u2019t cost a fortune.<\/span>   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8b25d55 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8b25d55\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Not everywhere is perfect<\/h3><p class=\"p1\">There are, however, places that were <span class=\"s1\">disappointing<\/span> \u2013 and one of them is the <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/jxKp1rurLNbkA8vH8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\">Monkey Hill Viewpoint<\/span><\/a>. In theory, it\u2019s a viewpoint, but in practice, <span class=\"s1\"> the area is taken over by aggressive monkeys<\/span> that are just waiting for someone to carelessly pull out food or a water bottle. <\/p><p class=\"p1\">On the way to the top, <span class=\"s1\">the monkeys were practically attacking people<\/span>, trying to snatch things from their hands. After walking about <span class=\"s1\">500 meters<\/span>, we decided it wasn\u2019t worth the risk any longer \u2013 <span class=\"s1\">we weren\u2019t particularly interested in wrestling with monkeys<\/span>, and even less in visiting the hospital and testing our travel insurance after a potential bite. <\/p><p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Interestingly<\/span>, Monkey Hill has a rating of 4.4\/5 on Google, <span class=\"s2\">which is a bit of a mystery to us<\/span> \u2013 maybe people just enjoy the thrill? \ud83d\ude05 <span class=\"s2\">If you plan to visit<\/span>, it\u2019s better not to bring food with you and keep a close eye on your phone or camera<span class=\"s2\">, because the monkeys are real thieves. It\u2019s also a good idea to have a bigger stick with you to fend off the monkeys if necessary. Phuket is worth seeing, but is it necessary to return there?
