Desert Horizons 2025

Our motorcycle trip from Poland to Oman

Hey! Glad you dropped by ๐Ÿ˜„ Youโ€™re probably wondering what kind of crazy idea weโ€™ve cooked up this time โ€” and fair enough, because this oneโ€™s wild. Desert Horizons 2025 is our biggest trip yet: riding a motorcycle all the way from Poland to Oman. Yep, for real. On two wheels. No shortcuts.

Weโ€™re setting off at the end of August 2025 with more than 11,000 kilometers ahead of us. On the way: mountains, deserts, borders, checkpoints, a bit of stress, plenty of excitement, new people, local food, breakdowns, and probably a few decisions weโ€™ll regret halfway through. All of it โ€” on two wheels.

This page is our little mission control โ€” and a mini-FAQ. Here youโ€™ll find the route map, a list of all articles and updates, the current trip status, details about our gear, costs, paperwork, plus a section with the folks and partners whoโ€™ve supported us along the way.

Got a question? Let us know. And if all goes to plan โ€” see you somewhere between Iraq and Oman.

Planned route of the expedition

We kick things off on August 29th from Warsaw. The warm-up? A straight run through Europe โ€” Slovakia, Bulgariaโ€ฆ and further southeast, without too many sightseeing detours. Europe can wait. The Middle East? Not so much.

The real adventure kicks off in Turkey โ€” Istanbul, Ankara, then the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia (Gรถreme), Sanliurfa, and onwards toward the Iraqi border.

In Iraq, weโ€™re aiming for Erbil and Baghdad. Yep โ€” on a motorcycle. ๐Ÿ˜œ

From Iraq weโ€™ll roll into Kuwait for a short stop, and then itโ€™s Saudi Arabia on the horizon โ€” this time with Al Ula and Riyadh on the list (the places we missed last time). After that, the route takes us into the UAE for a night in Abu Dhabi, and from there itโ€™s just a stoneโ€™s throw to Oman. Muscat is where weโ€™re aiming to park the bike and call it the big finale of Desert Horizons 2025.

And the way back? From Dubai, the bikeโ€™s heading home by sea freight, while weโ€™ll take a plane straight to Warsaw. Less romantic than the ride in, sure โ€” but a lot quickerโ€ฆ and with our heads packed full of stories.

Our friends

This trip isnโ€™t just two helmets and a tank of gas โ€” itโ€™s a mountain of planning, paperwork, gear, translations, and all the little logistics that nobody ever shows on Instagram.

And thatโ€™s exactly why weโ€™re beyond grateful to everyone who chipped in to make Desert Horizons a reality. Big or small โ€” every bit of support helped turn this crazy plan into an actual trip.

Trip updates and related articles

We actually kicked off the prep work back in mid-2024, when this trip went from โ€œcool ideaโ€ to โ€œletโ€™s see if itโ€™s even possible.โ€ That meant diving into paperwork: visas, border rules, insurance, and the big one โ€” figuring out if you can legally ride a leased motorcycle across half of the Middle East. Spoiler: you can. But it takes patience, a handful of certified translations, and a stubborn refusal to quit after the first โ€œno.โ€

Below youโ€™ll find all the articles tied to Desert Horizons 2025 โ€“ from the prep phase to stories straight from the road. The road updates will pop up gradually, once weโ€™re rolling. And, wellโ€ฆ whenever we manage to catch some Wi-Fi.

  • ๐ŸŽ’ List of things we are taking with us on the desert trail (coming soon)

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ Road Stories

Articles from the road will start rolling out in September โ€” one for every major stage of the trip. We donโ€™t have a fixed script, and thatโ€™s the whole point. Plans may change, routes may shift, but one thingโ€™s for sure: itโ€™s going to be an adventure.

How to follow our journey

If you want to keep up with us along the way โ€” follow our journey on social media.

On Instagram, youโ€™ll find reels, stories, and snapshots straight from the road โ€” not always perfect, but always real. On Facebook, expect more text updates, random thoughts, and little behind-the-scenes notes from the trip.

๐Ÿ”— @warsawtravelers on Instagram โ€” thatโ€™s where we drop the everyday stuff, the behind-the-scenes, the wow-moments, and the inevitable fails.

And if you donโ€™t catch our updates in real time โ€“ no worries. After the trip weโ€™ll put together a series of posts about the journey. Weโ€™ll show what it really looked like: unpolished, but full of passion. And who knows โ€“ maybe weโ€™ll inspire you to hit the road tooโ€ฆ even if it means a sore butt after the first week. ๐Ÿ˜„
